Free Tropical Milkweed seeds are being given away at the Whitecliff Recreation Center. Milkweed is what Monarch butterflies need to lay their eggs.
Supplies are limited.
The seeds are annuals so they will only flower this year. If you save the seeds you can plant them again next year.
You have two choices for planting the seeds.
- Plant the seeds inside now. I like the Northrup King seed starting kits. They allow you to start 72 plants. The kits cost $5 to $6. You can put in the plants after May 1st. I use a shop light for lighting.
- Wait until May 1st and plant the seeds outside in a sunny area. These seeds also do great in a 12 inch pot. I use twenty seeds per pot.
